EASTON, Md. (AP) — For only the third time in five years, Easton police have ticketed someone for going topless in public. Sean Cephus, 18, was cited June 4 when police say he was spotted without a shirt on South Street near Hanson Street. He was also cited for failing to obey a lawful order to stop for police.
A town ordinance adopted in 1974 forbids anyone from going topless in public buildings or on public streets and sidewalks. Possible penalties are a fine of up to $100 and up to 10 days in jail.
Easton Police Lt. Gregory Wright said people without shirts are considered a public nuisance. He said three citations have been issued since 2003.
Mike Lowell, the guy that the Sox were thinking about trading at the end of last season is on a tear. Lowell smacked a grand slam after the Orioles thought that walking Manny Ramirez would be a good idea. Then Lowell steps up and clears the bases. JD Drew, another player the Sox were scratching their heads at last season, is another player that is on fire. Drew is on an 11 game hitting streak and cracked a two run shot to help seal the game for the Sox.
The Celts looked like they were hanging up the towels before the second quarter started. The Celts couldn’t hit a shot if their careers depended on it. Then something changed. Doc must have done something at half time. The Celts came out on fire and when you talk about the top ten Celtics games of all time, this one will be ranked somewhere in that top ten. The game reminded me of the many Pats games where the Pats came back from a huge deficit and ended up winning with under a minute left in the game. Banner #17 is one game away.
Gas prices are even slowing down race cars. The New York Times reports, “The cost of high-octane fuel for the racecars is up to $8.25 a gallon,” and “the escalating price of fuel is altering the already skimpy economics of lower-tier racing, the type that takes place on the half-mile dirt oval at New Egypt Speedway and at most tracks across the country.”Small-scale racing teams often run on a tight budget, and with the increasing cost of racing fuel — and of diesel to power the heavy truck-and-trailer rigs that drive race cars to the track, gas costs are forcing racers to cut back.“Gas costs are less an issue for teams on the big-time circuits, like Nascar’s Sprint Cup series, because they generally have fuel provided for their racecars and have big-ticket sponsorship deals to help offset travel expenses.”But the small-circuit races where drivers learn their skills before moving up to the big races are starting to feel the pinch.
Kentucky’s WLKY reports, “The stuff these engines race on is 110-octane. But when you’re running a low budget, love-of-the-sport operation, it’s costly.”A recent Winged Sprint race in Salem, Indiana saw a quarter fewer competitors than in previous years.
Even some high-budget race teams are experimenting with fuel changes.Motor Trend reports, “Audi Sport, the automaker’s in-house racing division, will be debuting an all new diesel fuel to be used by its dominant R10 TDI LMP1 cars at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.”In Audi’s case, the experiment is driven by environmental concerns, not cost-cutting.“The race-only fuel is said to not only produce ample power, but also dramatically reduce CO2 emissions.”
In the morning, the Detroit Pistons fired Flip Saunders. By the afternoon, the players were put on notice.
“I’m not going to sit here and make Flip the scapegoat,” president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Tuesday. “Everybody is in play.”
Dumars publicly put his entire lineup on the trading block, less than a week after the Pistons lost in the Eastern Conference finals for the third straight year.
Among those available: four players who have been together since winning the 2004 NBA title together, plus another starter who just finished his fourth season with the team.
“There are no sacred cows here,” Dumars said. “You lose that sacred-cow status when you lose three straight years.”
The good news is the Celts set a new home court play-off record by winning 15 straight at home. The bad news is that they lost last night. This means two things. One the streak is over… duh…. and the other… they need to win on the road which is something they haven’t done during the play-offs. Can they win? I believe they can, they just need to be able to keep a lead, something they couldn’t do last night.
On a more positive note, the Sox beat the Royals 11-8. JD Drew is finally stepping up this season and playing to the level and caliber he was once known for. Daisuke Matsuzaka is unbeaten so far this season.
Thank God the Celts started off at home. If they were in Detroit, the series would be at 1-0 in favor of Detroit. KG was on fire and the bench did what they did best, score points and keep the Celts in the lead. I would like to think the Celts will win the whole thing but they have some tough competition should they make it past Detroit. The Celts have a 15 game home winning streak, BUT they also have a 15 game losing streak…. well, not 15, but close to it. They need to step up when they hit the road if they want to win the championship.
Well, the Red Sox blew their chance to sweep Detroit in the 9th inning. I have to give them credit, they came back from an 8-4 deficit late in the game. And guess who walked in to record the winning run?? That’s right our boy RENTERIA. Ya, the Sox should have kept him. LUGO BLOWS and CRISP can follow LUGO to the un-employment office. They took 2 of 3 so we can’t complain. AND the Red Sox are 4 1/2 up on the Yankees SUCK!!!!!!!!! Did I type that out loud??
For those of you living under a rock, the Celtics demolished Atlanta today. I think it was something like 225-10. One of those games where they blew the game out early on and it wasn’t much of a game other than the players throwing punches, clothes lines and body checks. It looked like a hockey game towards the middle of the game.
So KG and Pachulia got into it during game 4. Here is the video in case you missed it:
Now fast forward to game 7. KG gives Pachulia a going away gift. KG sat the rest of the game. Too funny.
