Mom goes into labor, gives birth in a Dairy Queen parking lot. Baby immediately promoted to manager

A mother-to-be heading for the hospital Sunday morning ended up having her child in a Dairy Queen parking lot in Grand Junction.

The woman was being driven to the hospital when she went into labor, KKCO-TV reported. The driver pulled off into the Dairy Queen parking lot near the Interstate 70 Business Loop and 30 Road and called 911.Firefighters with the Clifton Fire Protection District arrived just before the newborn baby girl.

Firefighter Mike Lockwood delivered the baby. He said it’s the 10th baby he’s delivered in his 23 years with the Clifton Fire Protection District.

Lockwood said the new baby and the new mom were taken to the hospital and are both in good health.
